Sorting by SKU on product variations grid
We would like to sort the product variations grid by article number (SKU).
However, that option doesn’t exist while it exists for almost every other column.
Can’t this be fixed, or is there a workaround to add that functionality?
As a workaround, you can use the Custom Field column to create a column for SKU and make it sortable.
The reason the sorting is not available for the SKU column itself is that the value of the columns is not reliable to sort on. It shows the stock for a variation, that can be also be determined on the parent product. The custom field workaround only sorts on the SKU that is set for a specific variation and ignores SKU values that are determined on parent level.
Hi Fabian, I think it would be a great addition to be able to sort product variations on SKU. WooCommerce uses the main product SKU as a fallback when the variation SKU is empty. We will take that into consideration too.
I have added it to our roadmap for the next release.
