Search filter on custom field
Hello,
I’m wondering if it’s possible to do a search filter on a custom field value?
Thanks, Harry.
Hi Harry,
It’s currently not possible to search on a custom field with our plugin.
Filtering does give you a list of all available values but this can be a very large list.
There are two feature request related to your question
https://github.com/codepress/admin-columns-issues/issues/294
In this request we want to make the filter dropdown to a ajax select2 list.
https://github.com/codepress/admin-columns-issues/issues/140
This is a request for supporting search on the listing screens.
Hi Stefen,
Great, I’m glad it’s been thought about already.
Until it’s implemented, it would be good to use the list filtering you mentioned as a temporary fix.
The problem Im having is I want to filter on an ACF field but it doesn’t give me the option, is there any way I can do this?
Thanks, Harry.
Just to add to this – I tried using the normal custom fields and filtering on that, but the filtering dropdown is empty even though the columns have values.
Here’s a screen shot to show you;
Sorry didn’t copy the image path itself!
Is it correct that the related event is a post relation field in ACF?
This field is stored as serialized data. Unfortunately serialized data cannot be filtered at the moment.
We have changed this in the upcoming 4.0 release but in 3.* this will not be possible.
Hi Stefan,
Great, thanks for your reply.
Is there a release date planned for v4 yet? That way we can let the client know when to expect this feature to be added.
Thanks, Harry.
Hi Harry,
The 4.0 release is already late, but there are still some thing we need to tackle before we release it.
It is planned for this month, but we’re still not sure if we’re able to release 4.0 this month.
We will do some bugfix releases in the meantime for the 3.* version but this will not include features like this.
