We have indeed plans to support the MetaBox group field.
If you like, I can already send you a test version with the first implementation of the group support.
Unfortunately, there will be no sorting, filtering, editing support.
The reason for this is that all data is stored in a single serialized field, which makes it ok for displaying but not suitable for sorting or filtering purposes. Aside from that nested Group fields will also not be supported.
