You are right. I have reopend this issue. My proposed solution would be to introduce a Taxonomy field type for Custom Fields.

I got it working for Pods. My proposed solution is a bit complexer then I initially thought. The problem with making it into a general Custom Field type is that we need more then just the Term ID, because we need the Taxonomy aswell. Most Custom Field plugins, like Pods, store them as an array with both term properties in it. I have to see if this solution works for most cases, like WP Types, or that we need to introduce another field which let you select the actual taxonomy. Will keep you posted.

Thank you for paying attention to it, Tobias.

We have a update? I’m trying to filter a custom POD relation (not term) and I see the ID, not the real value.

Thanks.

Hi everyone – same issue here as Darlene I think. I have two post types (not terms) set up using Pods, and a relationship between the two; when I go to my list of post type X, I have a column for “related Y” and it’s showing the post_titles correctly, but the filter menu is showing IDs instead of titles.

Very grateful if anyone can steer me on getting the titles showing instead.

@Trevor Did you select the display type as “Post Title” for the Custom-Field-column ?

I hadn’t, sorry! So simple! All fixed now, thanks Tobias…

Setting the display type to “Post Title” does fix the filtering (so that it correctly displays the title rather than the ID), but then nothing at all shows up in the data column. Surely there’s a way to have both?

Also, when the display type is set to “Default”, the titles display correctly in the column, but the sorting fails. It appears to be sorting by ID rather than by title. Not useful!

Please let me know how to get filtering and sorting working with Pods. This is the whole reason I upgraded to the Pro version of the plugin, and so far it’s mostly just caused frustration. :-(
