Excerpt is missing, current is generated from the content

Why do you pull content from the content? I add an excerpt column for on reason (in my case): to see the empty ones…

The message is maybe a bit misleading.
We don’t create the content and change it in the database.
The column just shows you the excerpt of the post, but when it was fetched from the post content (like WP does by default) we put the icon in place. You could use filtering to show only posts with or without an excerpt.
