Custom Field: column could not be loaded due to unknown error

Hi team,

Whenever I’m trying to add a standard Custom Field column I get an error “Column could not be loaded due to unknown error”. I have not even defined the custom field yet, so this is right after picking Custom field in the column picker. I have not used Custom field columns before in our post list overviews before, so I’m not sure how long this error has been around. Because of this error I’m also unable to save the columns overview for that post type. I can only save when I remove the custom fields column again.
We’re on PHP8.1.23 and latest WordPress 6.4.3.

PS Of course we’re also on the latest Admin Columns plugin version 6.4.5

Thanks for your feedback.
The Ajax call to retrieve the column settings fails for some reason.
Can you have a look at your server’s error log and send the exact error to support@admincolumns.com so we can take it up from there?

Hi Stefan. Nothing shows up in our error_log for this error, nor is anything sent to our Sentry instance. I also don’t see anything in Javascript console.

Can you check the Ajax request that fires in your console when you change or add the custom field column?
I suspect the response is a 500 which means something must be logged with the error. When the Ajax response returns a valid 200 response, please send me the result of that call.

Thanks for the input. This is the correct response that should be returned.
Are you sure that this is the response that is returned when you have the error on the page, so when you choose the Custom Field column?
